Lim Su Seng posted a photo: An Hindu festival celebrated by the Tamil community on the full moon of the Tamil month (Jan/Feb according to the Tamil Calendar) Over a million Hindus gather every year at various temples nationwide to celebrate Thaipusam. The celebrations take place on a grand scale at the Batu Caves (Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple) just outside of Kuala Lumpur. The festival celebrates the occasion when Parvati (Hindu goddess) gave Murugan (Hindu deity) a spear so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman.

And each time I hear the song – Murugan vandharam, murugan vandharam – maatu vandhiyileh (lyrics changed ;p)- playing in my head ;p Every Thaipusam morning, he heads to the river for the dip of the vel in the river.
